About Our Founder
Juggling the demands of a busy professional career, family responsibilities and being actively involved in church and community served as the catalysts for the search for ways to work smarter, more efficiently, to get things done. This search led to the discovery and development of effective systems for handling these demands and eventually to the founding of Simple Solutions Professional Organizers. According to Merchant, “Our company is designed to help busy people handle the demands for their time and attention more efficiently. Our clients include business owners and professionals from a variety of fields, successful attorneys, accountants, bankers, physicians and many others who from time to time get behind and need help getting caught up as well as clients for whom disorganization has become a way of life.”
Dr. Merchant spent over thirty years as a college professor and administrator and sees the work of Simple Solutions as an extension of her passion for education. Dorothy is a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) and is an active member of the North Carolina chapter. She is a popular speaker on topics related to organization.
Merchant, herself a lifelong learner says, “We must always be learning and growing.” She earned a Ph.D. from Kent State University, M.A. from Case Western Reserve University, an MBA from Baldwin Wallace College and a B.S. from California State University.
